Has anyone had a psoriasis outbreak within a small period of time?

I’ve had psoriasis for 40 years, mostly on elbows, knees and a little on the knuckles until a few weeks ago. I now have a large amount on the upper thighs, above the ankles, upper arms and knuckles appear to be on fire. Has anyone had an outbreak within a short period of time and if so, what are your thoughts on what caused it?

  1. Hey , thanks for reaching out here. Sorry to hear that you've had such a sudden and widespread flare 🙁 That must be so uncomfortable.

The majority of flares that I can remember came on quite gradually I think, but I do remember a guttate psoriasis flare that popped up literally overnight, all over my torso. It seemed to be triggered by either/both a throat infection and stress. Even to this day both of these things are huge triggers for my psoriasis.

If it would be helpful, we have some information on some of the other common triggers for psoriasis: https://plaquepsoriasis.com/what-is-psoriasis/triggers-causes-flares/ Can you relate to any of these? Have you had a chance to chat to your doctor about trying to calm this flare down? Hang in there! -Catherine, Community Moderator

    1. Just looked guttate psoriasis and it sounds like what I had. I had an uri and two weeks later sinus infection. Makes sense. I hope it’s not permanent. Thank you.

      1. You're welcome, 😀 Infections are such a pain!! Hope everything calms down for you very soon.
