Skyrizi And Side Effects
I have been on Skyrizi for exactly 1 year this month. It's doing such a great job on my skin that I have just overlooked the side effects. At first, it was the infections, but my healthcare team just took me off of other medications.
I have been having constipation issues since I started this medication, along with weight gain. I just noticed that I'm having mood swings, which is not normal for me. I am a very happy-go-lucky sort of person.
Have you had any side effects from Skyrizi or any other biologic? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)
are you thinking the mood swings are because of the medication? I know I have mood swings dealing with everyday life. I have never considered it being caused by any medication. Now I might have to start considering it. Vickie W., Team Member Hello
, hey, how are you doing? My doctors are trying all kinds of let me take you off this and see if this works, let's add this in and see what happens. My kidney numbers dropped significantly and they said it's because of medications. Right now it's trial and error. The things we have to go through in life. Diane (Team Member)
I have been taking skyrizi since November of 2020, so almost 3.5 years now. I started getting bad headaches 2 years after I started the medication. Never made the connection that skyrizi could be the cause. Went to multiple doctors trying to figure out what was going on but no answers. OTC meds didn’t help, I tried everything I could. After about 2 months headaches went away thankfully. Headaches came back about a month in full swing. Until just yesterday I thought the headaches were stemming from stress maybe dehydration but when looking up the side effects from skyrizi, headaches are the second most common side effect. It’s been brutal. I am stopping skyrizi as the last dosage I took was about 8 weeks ago. I’m convinced that skyrizi is causing the headaches as I’ve never been prone to headaches before being on skyrizi. I get them infrequently and they typically resolve on their own or with OTC meds. I don’t think skyrizi is a drug worth taking for psoriasis considering the bad side effects. Also it hasn’t really cleared up my skin, some months it’s better than others but my skin issues are flaring up with the heat and weather changes.

Thanks for replying. I am the total opposite when it comes to getting off of Skyrizi. I have severe psoriasis and this drug has been one that has helped me the most. I was 80% covered in scales at the beginning of this. I am about 90% clear. It's not doing anything for the PsA, but that's another subject. My doctors think I should come off of it. I am 66 years old and just don't feel like suffering right now and that is what I do when I'm covered. I go back in 2 months. They changed some of my medication because my kidney numbers were dropping. This is a disease that won't stop giving. If you stop taking Skyrizi, do you think you will get on another biologic? I am in a completely different situation than you and anyone else, you really can’t compare yourself to someone else as everyone’s health situation varies. My psoriasis is not as severe as how you describe yours is. And skyrizi isn’t helping resolve my issues. I will NOT be taking any medication causing serious intense side effects like I’ve been having with no explanation as to why these just popped up other than the fact that my symptoms are the #2 side effect issue which is headaches with accompanying nausea. This drug clearly doesn’t agree with my body. No drug is worth feeling that way. I have to see what my dermatologist says but I am never taking skyrizi again that’s for damn sure!

, First off, I am so sorry that you are going through this. And you are right, we are all so very different. It's sad that we have to make these decisions, just to stay healthy. Having headaches are no fun at all, so I do understand. Let us know what the outcome is. I would like to share this information with the community.
