Question about clear fluid appearing at flareup spots

Hi. After a good soak, scrub and drying of my psoriasis, flare-up spots, I have experienced a clear fluid that builds up like droplets at the hottest spots, and takes some time to subside. I just pat it dry until it stops. Has anyone seen this, or have any idea what it is? It happens after a scrub to remove the scales and excess derma. Can it be white blood cells, or just water in the system? Any thoughts?

  1. Hello , thank you for your question. Have you had a chance to ask your doctor about this? Is this a new symptom? While I hope other community members will chime in with their experience, I am including an article from our editorial team about pustular psoriasis, which are fluid filled blisters. https://plaquepsoriasis.com/clinical/types-of-pustular-psoriasis/ I hope this article helps you and please keep us posted on how you are doing.

    1. have you found/gotten an answer? I have had something similar happen to me as well, usually after exfoliating or if I've scratched at my psoriasis too much. I'm not 100% sure what it is, I've assumed it was white blood cells (macrophages). I'm interested if anyone has consulted with their doctor on this. Mine usually goes back to looking like plaque psoriasis (for me that's meaning it's no longer red/raw/wet and has scales back) after a day or so.

      1. Thanks for the update! Hope your search for a dermatologist with psoriasis experience goes well, it can be a challenge finding someone who looks at psoriasis as a whole and not just what's happening on the surface.

      2. Hi , you are right, psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder. You mentioned that you need to find a new dermatologist. I was wondering if you have tried looking for one on The National Psoriasis Foundation Navigation Page? You can filter doctors by location. I hope you can find the health care you deserve! https://www.psoriasis.org/navigationcenter

    2. Hi! No, I haven't, yet. It seems to be related to the formation of plaques, though. I'll check the article, thank you.

Currently, diet and a conscious schedule of soaking and moisturizing with Gold Bond Psoriasis Relief Cream and Sebamed is having a positive effect. I wish I could reach that patch in the center of my back, but there ya go. I'll have to modify a back scratcher to apply moisturizer, I guess, LOL!

      1. Yeah, even though a doctor may have education and science (very important!), something as nebulous as this condition might benefit from first-person experience.

        It's definitely not a clear-cut cause/effect condition. That's why sharing is important. ^_^
