The Excitement of Seeing a New(ish) Dermatologist

2025 is starting out to be a good year regarding my psoriasis. After a couple of years of not having proper medical care, I now have an appointment with a dermatologist. He is new as far as the current insurance I am on, but he is not new to me. I saw him years ago. When I first found out that I would be able to see him again, I felt a wave of relief.

This doctor is a leading physician in the psoriasis field where I live. His expertise and the positive results I experienced during our previous encounters provided me with a sense of hope that had been missing for quite some time. Returning to a familiar face, especially in the medical field, brings a unique blend of comfort and anticipation.

Past medical attention

The past medical attention I am referring to is being on Medicaid and the problems I encountered. In Louisiana, if you are on Medicaid, there is not a private dermatologist or rheumatologist in the entire state that will accept it. It meant I had to go to a low-income hospital to receive care. It was a nightmare considering they do not even have a dermatologist on staff. With that statement alone it should imply to you the inappropriate care I received. However, once the COVID Relief was over, I was able to get off Medicaid. I couldn’t wait for the chance to get back on insurance that would allow me to see a private dermatologist.

The prospect of revisiting a trusted professional offers a reassurance that cannot be understated. Knowing his history with my condition and his personalized approach to treatment, means that we can pick up where we left off, without the need for lengthy explanations or adjustments. This familiarity fosters a more efficient and effective treatment plan, which is crucial for managing a chronic condition like psoriasis. The excitement I feel is also tinged with a sense of curiosity. How has his practice evolved? What new treatments and advancements in dermatological care might he introduce? The medical field is ever-changing, and I am eager to learn about the latest developments that could potentially improve my quality of life.

A new start for 2025

Moreover, this appointment symbolizes a fresh start. The new year often brings with it resolutions and renewed commitments to health and well-being. Securing this appointment feels like a significant step forward in my journey towards better health. It represents a proactive move to regain control over a condition that has, at times, felt overwhelming. The excitement of seeing a dermatologist who is both new and not new to me is a multifaceted experience. It combines the relief of returning to a trusted professional with the anticipation of new possibilities and treatments. As 2025 unfolds, I look forward to the positive changes this appointment promises to bring to my life.

I cannot wait to see my psoriasis heading in a new direction. A right direction. I am still anticipating there will be challenges like finding the right treatment that works. Hopefully, not having to fight insurance (but I know that is wishful thinking). Most importantly it means that I will not have to fight so hard to receive proper medical attention. That alone brings such a relief to me. Now I have a new primary care doctor and a new/not new dermatologist. Onwards and upwards is what I am anticipating. Bring on 2025.
