I thought it was “just an autoimmune rash”….
Psoraisis and ankylosing spondylitis
Because I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis first, AS was always my main thing. It causes me the most grief and pain and life change but psoriasis came later. In my thirties. Frankly, I saw it as yet another weird autoimmune thing. Who knows what?
Stress and psoriasis
But over time I realized it was constantly surging during stress periods and that it was itchy and scaly and it was….psoriasis. I found out my uncle had PsA (HLAB27 runs in our family) and it put the pieces together for me. I may have PSA too - I need to check. My point? See the doctor. Don’t just chalk things up to random autoimmune things. Follow up. Ask the questions. Self-advocate.
