I have had plaque psoriasis almost all my life

I have had plaque psoriasis since I have been 7 years old. It started on my scalp and back. I had to use a tar shampoo which was horrible and take ultraviolet light treatments every week for years.

My negative experiences with psoriasis

Sometimes my skin would get so red and sore. When I was in junior high some of the kids made fun of me, but soon I learned not to let that bother me. I also had nail psoriasis. I used Enbrel for about 5 years until I developed a bad infection after surgery from a bowel obstruction. My dermatologist took me off of it because I developed the infection and gangrene had set in and developed sepsis.

Living with psoriasis

I am now 68 years old and I only have a few spots on my elbows. I used to have it so bad the lesions were so big and I used to scratch and the flakes were very thick. I also think I have psoriatic arthritis, my joint pain is so bad at times could cry. Thank you for letting me tell my story about psoriasis.
