Re: Otezla

My dermatologist has had me on Otezla for about seven months. Until the other day I had chewed the pills since I can’t swallow pills. With my new shipment it said not to chew or split the pills. Found a way to swallow with a water bottle, but are the chewed pills a deterrent? If anyone can answer this, it’d be appreciated.

I am also on Otezla. It starts with 10mg twice a day, then 20mg twice a day and maintenance is 30mg twice a day. They must be swallowed whole. Chewing them makes them not work. The pills are smaller than an aspirin so they should be easy to swallow. If it is difficult, ask your MD if you can take them with applesauce to make it easier to swallow.

    Hello there!

We would advise that you follow the instructions given by your doctor, whatever they may be. If you are unsure it is probably best to check with them, if you are able to and haven’t done so already.

If you manage to catch up with your doctor, do let us know what they say! I hope the Otezla is bringing you some relief.

    Best wishes,
    CathyD
