What Are Your Tips for Managing Stress?

Managing stress can be challenging when living with a chronic illness that affects day-to-day life. What are some tips to help you de-stress?

  1. I have gotten very good at removing toxic people from my life, even relatives.

    1. That’s honestly such a healthy step. It’s tough, especially when it involves family, but sometimes distance is the best thing we can do for our mental and emotional health. You’re doing what’s best for you, and that matters. -Latoya (Team Member)

  2. It only took me 70 years to figure that out 😊

  3. Stress management is easier said than done.
Especially given the individualistic nature of Stress, and the idiosyncratic nature of the body's own responses to Stress..Each one has to see what makes things better or worse for himself/ herself and follow where it leads one..

    1. You're right about that. So many therapists over the years tried to teach me various breathing exercises, and I really did try my best! But it didn't do a thing for me, ha. We had to move on to other strategies.

Care to share what's useful for you? It can be helpful to hear from others -- it can encourage trying something new. Hope you're doing okay this week! -Melissa, team member

    2. Absolutely! Stress is so personal, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Everyone’s triggers and responses are different, and it can take time to figure out what actually helps. Some days what worked yesterday won’t work today. It’s all about building a toolbox of little things that bring comfort. Consistency and patience really goes a long way. -Latoya (Team Member)
