What Has Been A Shining Moment With You With Psoriasis?

I got to attend an event with the NPF as a volunteer. (Soiree/Gala) There were over 180 attendees. My evening highlight wasn't about the beautiful attire everyone wore, the food, or the entertainment.

As you all know I have had psoriasis for 61 years, so I have seen my share of rheumatologists and dermatologists during this time. A lot of them were at this event. 2 of them were guest speakers.

Long story short, I was told not to do anything but mingle with the guests because I was putting off this great energy. This was my shining moment, and I don't think it gets any better than this.

In the past, I talked to Cyndi Lauper on the phone, sat on a panel with Jerry Mathers (Leave It To Beaver), met Cari Dee English (Americans Next Top Model), took a picture with LeAnn Rimes and in Essence Magazine.

Nothing could beat just having "my" doctors who have been with me for more than 2 decades and know my struggles all in one room together. We were carrying on conversations like we were old friends.

What has been your shining moment with having psoriatic disease? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

  1. To a large extent it would depend on the non psoriasis person's knowledge, outlook & awareness of the disease.
From a oersonal perspective, having a wife who's a registered nurse has made some aspects of managing 'our' disease much easier for me. Having said that, she is perplexed by the fact 'modern' medicine cannot provide us any long term relief i.e. there is currently no cure.

    1. A shining moment for me would truly be marrying my husband. He is my rock and totally supports me. I was really covered in psoriasis at the time but he made that choice that he wanted to be with me no matter what. 15 years we will be celebrating in August. That is more than any awards or anything else. Vickie W., Team Member
