Walk A Day In My Life With Psoriasis
Today, I will share what a casual day with psoriasis looks like for me. I have a very disciplined routine now that I have started taking care of my psoriasis very seriously. Initially, I was only focused on my treatments and medicines intake. But with time, I learned about how to turn this thing into a healthy lifestyle by focusing more on my body health. Because honestly, I was skeptical about depending entirely on drugs for my psoriasis management.
A day with psoriasis
Sadly, I still must stay on psoriasis medication, but I can get off of some other medications. So, I explored effective ways for my healthy routine. I changed my eating habits, skin care products, bathing products, and even my living conditions.

View all responsesI wake up early in the morning, pour one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water, and drink it as it helps with my metabolism. Then I make my detox water for the day. Cucumbers, sliced lemons, and a small slice of ginger. I make a huge bottle of it and consume it in half a day. I’m not a water drinker, so this helps a lot. I now avoid tea, coffee, or any other caffeine-based drink, so I shop around for fresh juice. Carrots or oranges in winter and strawberries in summer are my go-to drinks. I get them prepared in front of me, without any sugar or soda.
After that, I take a morning stroll around my neighborhood and breathe fresh air. I do try and do some stretches, but it is still not easy for me. But I do inhale some fresh crisp morning air and get back to my home.
I am a big believer in moisturizing. I use very basic skin care products, avoid using makeup and a natural product works for me. During the day I eat 2 huge plates of fresh salad to clean my digestive system and to boost my gut health. My meals in the daytime are mostly basic. I have given up fried foods, which was not easy. I now prefer home-cooked light meals.
Cheat days
In the evening, I take a little rest and then prepare my night meal which is mostly grilled chicken or fish. Trust me, I have cheat days too. I just started drinking turmeric tea. It’s not too bad, it helps with keeping my body pH normal and deals with cooling off body heat too.
But at times I do take some time off (not from medicines, but from my diet changes). I eat something sweet or fried occasionally but alongside I try to balance it out with my drink choices and my nourishment supplements too and so far, it is going great for me. The highlight of my life is when I see a doctor and they tell me I don’t need to be on a certain medication anymore. I am 66 and take fewer medications now than I did when I was in my 40s.
Full disclosure, a lot of my lifestyle changes have come from people in this community sharing their journey. We are all in this together.
