Yes, it can. I was 80% covered in my 30's and my doctor gave me a letter saying I was disabled. In my mind I was okay. I didn't apply for it at the time. I have always wondered over the years if I had taken that route, would my life be different?

Over the past 4 decades, I have spoken to several people who did this. Life was horrible for them and they were bedridden, so this was their best option. You have to do what's best for you.
