, great question! I take methotrexate tablets, although this treatment was prescribed for my psoriatic arthritis rather than my psoriasis. Still, it can be used to treat psoriasis. At the start, my psoriasis cleared up within three weeks of starting the methotrexate, which was amazing! However, anytime I encountered a trigger it just came right back, and often worse, despite me still being on the methotrexate. We even increased my dose and I still had these trigger flares. It does seem to have increased the effectiveness of my topical ointment though. So a combination of the methotrexate and Dovonex ointment works well for me. I'm not clear but the psoriasis is manageable (knock on wood!). I take 15mg and I believe the maximum dose for psoriasis is 30mg, so I could take more if me/my doctor wanted to. I'd rather not take more if I can help it though - I already struggle trying to take six methotrexate pills every Saturday night! It's made a huge and more consistent difference to my psoriatic arthritis symptoms. Interesting how the different diseases respond to the different medications! Which oral tablets have you tried, Diane? Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator
