How Do You Feel About In Person Support Groups?

To me, those were the good old days. It's nothing like a group of people gathering together to share their journey. Not only did I learn a lot from those meetings, but met some friends I have had for over 20 years now. I had the best time looking for ventures and getting a dermatologist or a spokesperson to come to each meeting. Just planning to meet and get organizations to donate food was my therapy. Did you ever belong to an in-person support group or thought about starting one? What do you think about this idea? I'm having the itch to do it again.

We would love to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

  1. , I'm very introverted so I have mixed feelings about an in-person support group. They are incredibly beneficial, and it's great connecting with others and being able to chat freely. I always feel a bit anxious about the idea though, but I do know that I would enjoy it once I was there. I was sent on an arthritis self-management course by my occupational therapist and this ended up being a kind of support group environment. It was hugely helpful, and it was the second time I'd been in a room with people who actually understand what I'm going through (the first time being the Connexion conference in 2017 with your lovely self 🥰). It is very healing to talk with people who really get it. Let us know if you do end up setting a group up! Would love to hear your experiences with this and also the practicalities of arranging something like that. Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator

    1. I have thought about starting an in-person support group many times. However, something will happen to make me super busy and then I am grateful that I didn't start one. I do love when I can get together with other psoriatics and have those conversations that ordinary people would not understand. Vickie W., Team Member
