Reflecting on the Holidays and Looking Ahead to the New Year

With Christmas behind us and New Year's around the corner, how are you feeling? How has your holiday time been so far and what are you looking forward to in the new year? Are there any goals, hopes, or small changes you’re thinking about for 2025, whether for your health, mindset, or daily life? Let’s share and support each other as we head into this new chapter together! 🧡

  1. Hope that you had a great Christmas. It has been good for our family. I am hoping 2025 will be a better year. For me, I will be looking for a new primary care doctor, dermatologist, and rheumatologist. Insurance is changing so that always brings on some anxiety but hopeful I can find each quickly. As for daily life I am going to try to focus more on the positives and be kinder to myself. What is your goals, hopes or small changes in 2025? Vickie, Team Member

    1. Thanks, ! The holiday with my daughters was quite good. We visited my dad in Alabama and spent some quiet time in the country. As far as any goals, I want to improve in the area of self-care and prioritizing my needs. I put myself last a lot more than I should and it's starting to take a toll on me, both physically and emotionally. I know I can’t pour from an empty cup, so I’m hoping to make small changes this year to set boundaries and carve out time for myself. So if you have any tips or advice I'd surely take it! -Latoya (Team Member)

    2. making some time for yourself is so important. Kudos to you for knowing not doing so is pulling you down. Only advice I can give is find something that you like to do so that it lets you get out of your head for whatever time you spend on yourself. That way you are getting maximum benefit from it. For instance, for me, I am getting into those diamond paintings. It is simple enough that I can get lost in doing it and the best part is it doesn't require talent like regular painting does. 2. , you always start such thought-provoking discussions! My goals are quite similar to yours - I am very prone to putting others before myself, and whilst that has improved over the past couple of years, I still feel very guilty when I do it. So I want to try to change that. Do you mind sharing more about the small changes you will be making? Or have you not planned them out yet? I also want to put some more effort into stress management. Every time I have a noticeable period of stress I seem to end up with a new autoimmune disease, so I really need to get on top of it. I also want to send a card/letter to my doctor to say thank you for his support with my health since I was diagnosed with my latest autoimmune disease in 2023. I keep meaning to do it and suddenly 18 months has passed ! It sounds like you had a lovely holiday with your daughters and dad! We had a very quiet one and stayed at home, which is how I like it 🙂 Wishing you a very happy New Year, Latoya! -Catherine, Community Moderator
