Do medical professionals have enough knowledge on how to treat our skin, scalp and inflammation?

  1. I couldn’t finish in the question area due to limited space.

I feel my dermatologist, who is in high demand, is basically stumped when she sees me.

Terrible itchy uncontrollable rash, said could be “scabies” ???? Douced myself with ointment head to toe. Wasn’t that. Took biopsy, inconclusive. Well just stay on Otezela and let’s see how it goes.

    Very frustrating.

    1. Hi. It sounds like you're still in the process of figuring out a diagnosis, right? That can be frustrating, especially when you trust a doctor to help and come away empty.

This article gives some guidance about how to approach the process with your doctor and figure out if they have the skills and knowledge you need to move forward. I know you don't have a definitive answer right now, but you could suggest, "I really think I'm dealing with psoriasis here. What do you think about this? Can we try some things assuming it's psoriasis and see where we get?" In addition to a dermatologist, you might find you can get some answers with a good rheumatologist.

Don't be afraid to ask for a referral or second opinion if you're not getting anywhere. You deserve to have competent care.
