I had psoriasis from my earliest memories and it was spreading to various parts of my body (knees, elbows, stomach, ears, etc.). At around age 20, the skin eruptions cleared up and have not returned. Is this unusual? Can I be tested to see what may have occurred so that others can be better treated?

, first of all, that's AMAZING! It's not unheard of for psoriasis to go into remission like this. For some people psoriasis goes into remissions for years, and sometimes never returns. I'm not aware of any tests that could be done to figure out why, but it would be so great if we could know! How many years have you been in remission for?

It has been 30+ years now.
I always thought it was linked to anxiety, but reading the articles on the website, seeing that there are links to depression, diet, and auto-immune deficiencies is intriguing. Would my doctor be able to direct me to a good specialist?

, you are right that there are a lot of co-morbidities that can creep up with psoriasis (but if you don't have active psoriasis then it sounds like your inflammation is pretty well under control!). You could always check in with a Dermatologist, but I imagine they'd just give you a pat on the back for 30 years of remission and not much else. Are there certain related diseases that you're concerned you may be developing? Do you have any other autoimmune conditions?

I was thinking that my doctor might be able to pinpoint the reason for the remission. Or that maybe a blood test could provide a direction to a better treatment.
As for other other autoimmune conditions, it is most likely the reason I contracted Shingles at a young age. And it may be a cause for my feelings of fatigue.

, is there anyyyy possiblity it wasn't psoriasis? Although like Vicki says - some people go into remission like this for years. The immune systems is a funny thing, for sure. Has your doctor tested you for any other autoimmune conditions?
