What Piece Of Advice Do You Wish People Would Stop Giving You?

I have several, but I will give you a few that drive me crazy. #1 - My cousin has that dry skin too. Just put some lotion on it. #2 - If you cut out sugar and gluten, your psoriasis will go away. It's the extra weight that is hurting you. #3 - Maybe you should shower more often.

What do you wish people would stop saying to you?

  1. , I hear you. I know people are mostly trying to help with these comments, but it does get quite tiring dealing with them.

I think the comments that I find the hardest are the ones that follow AFTER I've said that I've tried the lotion, or dietary changes don't help me, or I shower enough. The response I would really like is something along the lines of "Oh I'm sorry that didn't work for you. I hope you can find something else that will help". Instead, I get "Well how long did you try it for? Did you do it properly, with no cheating?". Those are the ones that I find most upsetting. We all will do almost anything to find relief from this disease, so it's hurtful when we get questioned in this way (or that's how I feel anyway!).

Looking forward to hearing others' thoughts on this. So nice to have a place to vent about these things. Thanks, Diane! -Catherine, Community Moderator

    1. The weight comments really get under my skin! It never ceases to amaze me how opinionated and less fact-based advice is given, especially from those who don't know or live with the condition. Not to mention the poor stigma and advertisements that feed the minds of the people who give such advice on what PsO entails and how to "cure" it. There are just so many factors that play into some of the advice people get from others and it can be very frustrating to hear some of the crazy things like you've mentioned. I truly hope we will see a more accurate and truth-telling display of how Pso affects those who have it in the near future. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! Kindly, Latoya (Team Member)
