Pustular Psoriasis

I first got plaque psoriasis after my Dad passed away. After a while, it went away.

First, a misdiagnosis

About 5 years ago, I developed a rash on my feet. Then my hands. I was misdiagnosed as having dermatitis and was told my only choice was creams.

I found someone else to see who did a biopsy, and I was diagnosed with pustular psoriasis on my hands and feet.
It’s all been downhill since then. Medicine would work for a while, then stop.

I needed to quit my job

My profession used to be nursing. I’d have open areas in my hands. Yes, I had to use hand sanitizer about 60 times a day, even with open areas on my hands. I tried to wash as much as I could, but that wasn’t good either.

My feet had two-inch deep cracks on the bottoms. I used an entire roll of gauze just so I could kind of walk and make it through the day. I’d go home in tears every day.

Eventually, I just had to quit.

The pain and the embarrassment are nightmares

I still have severe flare ups that I have to deal with and it’s horrible. I’m up at 2 am soaking my feet and trying whatever I can to make the pain better. It is horrible.

I have to keep my arms even covered because my arms also break out from the sun. My skin is a nightmare.

At age 56, I am so tired of this life, embarrassed by the way my skin looks. I can’t even enjoy being outside my social life really sucks!!!

Developing another kind of psoriasis

I had strep throat a few months ago and developed guttate psoriasis and now have to do light therapy three times a week. Really sickening.
