New medication anxiety

A year ago I was on a biologic that put me in remission for my psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and leukocytic colitis. My quality of life was excellent and I became vegan and enjoyed daily exercise Due to insurance change- I’m now retired and exorbitant cost I have been off everything and have relapsed. I tried 2 trials of what my insurance would cover and I was miserable and I’ll for a week. I have been approved for an injection of a biologic and I have done my research and am
Terrified regarding the deaths and lawsuits . It has great promise to treat all three autoimmune disorders and am wondering if anyone else has had experience with Humira? I know we are all different but I am hoping to hear from others with similar diagnoses. Be well

  1. Hi , thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to read that you've had a relapse with your conditions. It's so disheartening when symptoms flare up after a period of remission.

I don't have personal experience with Humira (the only systemic medication I have taken so far is methotrexate), but I'm hoping others who do will stop by to share with you. I was able to find the following Story from one of our community members: https://plaquepsoriasis.com/stories/confidence

I also did a quick search of our sister site - https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/ - and found lots of posts about Humira over there. Here are a couple of them: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/forums/humira-1
https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/forums/my-humira-experience - if you type Humira into the search box in the top left of the site, that should bring up all of the other posts on this medication.

I really hope this is helpful. Have you had a chance to discuss your concerns with your doctors? You're definitely not alone in feeling worried about starting a new biologic. Please feel welcome here anytime you need support or want to talk through your worries with someone. We are all here for you. Keep us updated on how you're doing if you can/feel comfortable doing so. Wishing you the very best! -Catherine, Community Moderator
