Tremfya experience at 6 years.

It worked great for the first 4 years and then slowly started coming back in year 5 and even more in year 6. It seems to be wearing off. Derm says that it is an immuno modulator so the antibodies should not develop but not sure why it seems to be slowly crawling back.

Can someone share their Tremfya experience? Did you move to another biologic and did that help?

  1. Hey , thank you for reaching out to the community here, and I'm sorry to read that Tremfya is losing its effectiveness for you. I haven't personally tried this medication, but we do have community members who have and I hope they'll stop by to share with you. I was able to find the following forum discussion, from our sister community for psoriatic arthritis, which I think may be of interest: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/forums/biologic-losing-efficacy We also have a more general article on this unfortunate issue of medications no longer working as they used to: https://plaquepsoriasis.com/living/treatment-stopped-working-help I hope this is of some help.

Do you think you will switch medications? And do you mind me asking if you have experienced any side effects with Tremfya? Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator

    1. I did not experience any side effects of Tremfya. It worked really well all these years. It just seems to be waning in efficacy now. However, I did gain weight in the last year or so due to my own folly which I intend to lose. Maybe that could have caused effectiveness to go down. I will report back when there is new development but for now I will stick to using Tremfya unless the doctor tells me otherwise.

    2. , it's good to hear that you haven't been experiencing any side effects with Tremfya, I just wish its efficacy wasn't reducing for you! That's interesting about the weight gain - perhaps you could ask your dermatologist about whether they think this could be a factor. I would be curious to hear if weight loss makes a difference for you. Please do keep us updated. Hoping this is a temporary blip for you! Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator

  2. , thanks for sharing some of your journey with us. I know we are all different. I have been on 8 biologics in 20 years. The longest one worked was 4 years. I know for me I was taking other medications too. My doctor told me that the biologic can lose effectiveness and our body can develop antibodies against the medication. I have never been on Tremfya. I am on Skyrizi right now and it's doing wonderful. What is your next step going to be? We would like to hear more from you. Diane (Team Member)
