What Is Something That Can Cause Your Psoriasis To Flare?

Back in the day, alcohol used to be a big one for me. If I drank too much, the next morning you could see the outline of my body, I would shed like a snack.

What makes you flare? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

  1. , this is a good question! My main triggers are stress, infections (usually respiratory infections), skin injury and one I always forget - humid, "sticky" weather. And then, of course, there's those flares that seem to happen for no rhyme or reason! I haven't ever noticed an impact of diet or drinks on my psoriasis, but I know lots of people do. Have you been able to identify any other triggers, apart from alcohol?

I'm very curious to hear others' experiences with this! For anyone interested, we have an article which looks at some common triggers for psoriasis: https://plaquepsoriasis.com/what-is-psoriasis/triggers-causes-flares Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator

    1. Hello , I would say, I'm not going to complain, nobody listening anyway - but you listen. My psoriasis is probably the best it's been in 20 years, no I take that back. It's the best it's been in 60 years. I actually wore a bathing suit for the 2nd time in my life. The first time I was asked to leave a pool. The next time I was on a beach in the Bahamas.

The bad part is that my PsA is kicking my butt. I can't raise my arm to comb my hair. My healthcare team thinks the medication I'm on is causing my kidneys to fail. The sad part is that it could be the biologic, but I refuse to stop it and be 80% covered again. I just couldn't live through that again. So right now, I'm just dealing with the pain.

I go back to the doctor in October, just pray that my kidney numbers are not still dropping. Thanks for listening gurl!!! I hope you feel better soon. We never get a break - do we? Diane (Team Member)

    2. I am happy to hear your psoriasis is doing better. That is great to hear. However, the PsA is a major concern. It is so hard when the medicine works for one thing but not the other.

I am so worried about your kidney numbers my friend. I will be praying you get better answers in October. I understand not wanting to give up a medicine that is working for you. However, the numbers can't keep trending down on your kidneys either. I keep saying psoriasis is just a no-win situation. We get one thing cleared up, like our skin, for the inflammation to say gotcha and create another problem. Vickie, Team Member
