Getting Help With Psoriasis-Related Issues

Living with psoriasis brings many challenges. We watch this condition spread across our bodies. There is currently no cure for it. This can be hard to process along with endless doctor visits.

Some people live in big cities with many doctors. Others live in small towns with few dermatologists. There is also the fight with insurance to get treatment. You may even need help with disability if you cannot work. These issues can be overwhelming.

Contact your state representatives

You have the right to contact your state legislative or senate members. Every state has members who deal with local policies. For instance, I live in Louisiana. I have 2 state representatives and 1 state senator.

They have local offices in my community. They also meet in Baton Rouge at our capitol. As a person in their district, I can contact all 3 members. They can help with insurance, disability, or other problems.

Working with congressional members

You also have congressional members. Where I live, there are 3 such members. One is the current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. I have the right to contact his office.

All these members have local offices you can contact. Each office has staff to handle different issues. You will likely talk to the person who handles health issues.

Visit their local offices

You can go to their offices if calling does not help. Staff members are available to you weekly. Search the internet to find their office hours and locations.

This or That

Do you find it helpful to connect with others living with psoriasis?

It might feel scary at first. I was petrified the first time I went into an office. Remember that they are people just like us. They want to hear from you to know what problems affect the district.

You have a voice

Many people do not know they can do this. They may feel bogged down by their health issues. Do not let that stop you from getting help. Psoriasis is a long journey with many obstacles. These steps might make your journey a little easier.
