My Daughter

Psoriasis first turned up on my daughter at the age of four. I believe it was on the side of her face.

From there it has generally spread to both sides of her face and her scalp. We have gone through several creams and lotions shampoos. T-gel I believe worked well and we can't find that anymore and her ears are bad.

She then got strep throat and her back and her neck and her chest broke out with all these red scabby dots. We've been taking her for the light therapy which is clearing it up but how hard is that on an 11-year-old girl?

Is there nothing that can make her life easier because I'm at my wit's head with with this?

There you can find support from parents and children that could help give you answers you might be seeking. Their website is <a href='https://www.psoriasis.org' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer ugc'>www.psoriasis.org</a>. It is so hard seeking children suffer especially when it is one of your own. <inline-mention username="CommunityMember72a32e" user-id="9854754"/> , It's hard when we as children get this disease. I got severe psoriasis at 5 years old. I was covered over 80% of my body. That was 61 years ago. I am so sorry you both have to deal with this. I'm just happy to see that she has a parent that is advocating for here. There are so many treatments out there now. Are you seeing a dermatologist? Some treatments you have to be careful with. We are here if you need us. One of the biggest thing I have learned on this journey was that I wasn't alone. <inline-mention username="CommunityMember1dea41" user-id="9796904"/> , I am so sorry you are going through this. I got psoriasis at 5 years old. I am now 66. I had a very severe case, but that's another story. T-gel is hard to get. Have you checked out Amazon? They did have it. Is your dermatologist suggesting anything else besides light treatment? There are so many things out now for psoriasis such as corticosteroids, non-steroidal topical medications, tar treatments and more. You just have to be careful with these, so it's best to check with your healthcare provider before you start anything new. The one thing that helped me the most over these last 61 years with this disease was always hearing my mom's voice in my ear telling me how beautiful and special I was when I was 80% covered. At 11, your daughter is not going to understand how powerful your presence will be to her. You hang in there and keep advocating for her. We are here if you need us. Diane (Team Member)

I really feel for you as parents. Is your daughter seeing a dermatologist? Whilst it's horrible that children have to cope with this disease, treatments have come such a long way since I was growing up with psoriasis.
